HomeStrong USA’s housing counselors are highly-trained, experienced, professionals who can guide you through the home buying process, repairing your credit, preventing foreclosure, and other obstacles preventing you from being a long-term sustainable homeowner. A Housing Counselor will talk to you about your specific situation and help you decide what mortgage options are best for you. Counselors will explain what documents you will need to provide to your mortgage company and help you create and follow a budget so that you can meet your proposed monthly mortgage payment and other expenses.

HomeStrong USA encourages you to visit your local HUD-approved counseling agency. Although you may choose to visit your local counseling organization, HomeStrong USA counselors are available to answer any questions or concerns you may have throughout the buying process. Any HUD approved Home Buyer Education course will take approximately 8 hours to complete and may require a registration fee.

HomeStrong USA provides an online alternative for Home Buyer Education. HomeStrongUSA utilizes the eHomeAmerica curriculum that is based on the nationally recognized eight hour NeighborWorks® America curicula-Realizing the American Dream. Many people have a difficult time getting to their local counseling office for in-person counseling, for reasons such as work schedules or babysitting issues. This online version helps individuals get the education and certification that they need at their convenience. Though this online course cannot replace in-person home buyer counseling and is not HUD approved, we believe that participants can gain a thorough understanding of the home buying process. Each participant in this course will be connected to a HomeStrong USA housing counselor to ensure that participants continue to receive the one-on-one counseling they need over the phone or in-person while receiving their certification online.
